If you are sending money to the U.S. or Mexico, you will be asked to select the specific state where you want your money sent. Your recipient must pick up the funds in the state you have selected.

To pick up their funds, your recipient must present:

  • Your transfer tracking number (MTCN)
  • Acceptable photo ID
  • In some countries and at some Western Union® Agent Locations, your recipient may be asked to provide additional information to identify themselves.

Acceptable ID for picking up a Western Union® Money Transfer℠ varies depending on the country where your recipient is. Generally, passports and national IDs are acceptable identification. A driver’s license may not be accepted.
