What happens if I use the wrong email or mobile number for Interac e-Transfer?
If you accidentally use the wrong email address or mobile number to send money, you can cancel the Interac e-Transfer if it hasn't been deposited yet. A cancellation fee may apply.
Here's a few tips to help you before sending money:
- If your recipient has set up Autodeposit, make sure their mobile number, email address, and registered name we're displaying on-screen are all correct because the money will be automatically deposited into their account, and you won't be able to cancel the transfer.
- If your recipient has not set up Autodeposit, make sure you have a strong security question and answer that only the recipient would know. Never include the security answer in the message field.
