What is the Request Money feature of INTERAC e-Transfer?
Request Money is a feature of Interac e-Transfer® that allows you to request money from a person or a business with an email address or a valid Canadian mobile number, and an eligible bank account with a participating Canadian financial institution.
To request money using the Interac e-Transfer service, the account number of the recipient does not need to be known – only their email address or mobile number is required.
If your recipient accepts your request for money, you'll receive an email and/or text message from Interac notifying you that the funds have been deposited into your account.

For business customers, you have the option to include an invoice number in your money request. Remember that the invoice number field in the money request is not a replacement for the actual invoice for a customer – it's only used to reference your original invoices.
When you request money using Interac e-Transfer, an email or text message is sent to the recipient typically within 1 minute, though some notifications may take up to 30 minutes. If you used the recipient's email address and your recipient doesn't receive the email from Interac, have them check their email 'Junk' folder.
The request will automatically expire after 30 days if the recipient hasn't accepted or declined it.
There is no fee to request money with the following accounts:
- TD Student Chequing Account
- TD Every Day Chequing Account
- TD Unlimited Chequing Account
- TD All-Inclusive Banking Plan
- TD Wealth Private Banking Account
- TD Unlimited Business Plan
For all other accounts, the following fees will apply if the request is accepted by the recipient:
- Up to $100: $0.50 per accepted request
- Over $100: $1.00 per accepted request
- Every Day A, Every Day B, and Every Day C: 2 free monthly transfers (send or receive), $1.50 per accepted request thereafter
- All other business accounts: $1.50 per accepted request
The Request Money transfer fee, if applicable, is charged only to the requestor when the recipient has agreed to complete the transaction. There is no transfer fee to receive a request and accept it1.
