How do I deposit a share/physical certificate to my TD Direct Investing account?
You can deposit share certificates to your TD Direct Investing account by visiting a TD Canada Trust branch to facilitate the delivery.
TD Direct Investing will accept share certificates for companies listed on the TSX, TSXV, NYSE and NASDAQ exchanges.
The following types of deposits are not accepted:
- U.S. Over-the-Counter (OTC) certificates
- Restricted share certificates with any of the following restrictions:
- A trade-restriction date
- Security Act 1933
- 144 Restricted Shares
- On a DRS, the word "RESTRICTED" stated on the statement
The certificate must be endorsed by the shareholder and have the signature witnessed. If taken in by a branch, the signature must be guaranteed by the branch.
Shares will not be available for trading until the certificate has been verified by the external transfer agent.
