How do I open a TD Direct Investing Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA)?

To open a Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA), you must:

  • Be a Canadian resident; 
  • Be the age of majority in the province where you reside*, and 
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)

*The age of majority is 18 in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. The age of majority is 19 in British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, and Yukon.
