Do you offer a capital gain/ loss report and can I use it for my tax returns?

TD Direct Investing clients can access gain/loss information on WebBroker under the Performance tab. Please note that gain/loss reporting may help you with your tax returns but they are not an official document for tax purposes. Your TD Direct Investing account statements are considered the official record of your transactions.

TD Wealth Financial Planning clients will receive a Realized Gain/Loss report with their T5008 tax documents (not via WebBroker). This report is also available for TD Wealth Private Investment Advice and TD Direct Investing President's Account clients. Please contact your advisor, relationship manager or TD Direct Investing for further details.

You can calculate your adjusted cost base in part by using your Annual Trading Summary, account statements and/or trade confirmations.

Annual Trading Summaries are mailed to clients in mid-February. These summaries show purchase/sale prices, dates, and commission charges.

Please note that Annual Trading Summaries are not produced for RRSP, TFSA, RRIF or RESP accounts.

The equation to calculate a realized gain or loss = Proceeds of the Sale - Book Cost - Trading Fees
