What is a TD Direct Investing Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA)?
A Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) is a type of registered plan. Assets invested in a TFSA within prescribed limits are not taxed on their income or gains.
To open a TFSA at TD Direct Investing, you must meet each of the following requirements:
- Be a Canadian resident
- Be of the age of majority in their province of residence* and
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
There are no fees to open TD Direct Investing TFSA¹.
* The age of majority is 18 in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and PEI. The age of majority is 19 in BC, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, North West Territories, Nova Scotia, and Nunavut.
