What are some things that I can do to improve my TD Direct Investing experience?

Here are some key things you can review and actions you can take in WebBroker to get the most from your TD Direct Investing account.

Update your information

Did you move? Add an authorized trader? Want a new password? It's a good idea to review your information including your email and mailing address, to make sure it is correct and updated.
Log in to WebBroker and go to the Accounts tab. Under More Self Service select Customize site, then select Security settings.

Review beneficiaries

It is a good practice to review beneficiaries and make sure the information on record is current and valid.
To review or assign a beneficiary, trading authority or Guarantor for your accounts in WebBroker, go to the Accounts tab, and under More Self Service select Assign a beneficiary, trading authority or Guarantor.

Check holdings and portfolios

Easily do a check of your portfolio to assess the value of your holdings, how your assets are distributed, their performance and gains or losses from your asset mix – all in one place in WebBroker. Also find out what your projected income might look if your investments and their income stay the same.

Select the Accounts tab and under Account Details review your balances, holdings, asset allocation, projected income, portfolio performance and gain and loss.

Save on commissions with the Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRIP)

To save on commissions, consider taking advantage of the Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRIP). Reinvest dividends from your securities in new shares of that company without paying a commission. By setting up a DRIP for your entire account or individual securities, the cash dividend automatically gets reinvested.

Invest steadily with the Automatic Investment Plan or Monthly Contribution Plan

Make steady investments by having a fixed amount of $100 or more automatically debited each month from a Canadian dollar chequing account to your Canadian dollar Direct Trading account. Find out more from the Set up an automatic investment plan link in the Self Service section under the Accounts tab.

Set or revisit investment goals with goal planning

Setting or revisiting your investment goals can be a good way to stay on top of your finances. Goal planning shows you how to set your goals, review your plan, track progress and adapt your plans as you go. Go to the Goals tab in WebBroker to learn more.

Save on quarterly maintenance fees by householding accounts

One way of saving on quarterly maintenance fees is to connect your different accounts together and with others living at the same address. Learn more about Householding and the potential benefits.
To household accounts or add a new account to an existing Household, contact TD Direct Investing to speak to an Investment Representative at 1-800-465-5463.
