What online-eligible security transfers are available in the TD app?

In the TD app, the following security transfers are available (see below for exclusions)

1. From non-registered accounts to other non-registered accounts (different account types, same or different currency).

A. e.g. From the CAD component of a Cash account to the CAD component of a Margin account or from the CAD component of a Cash account to the USD component of a Margin account, etc.

2. Contributions in-kind from non-registered accounts to the CAD component of a registered account only

A. e.g. From the CAD component of a Cash account to the CAD component of a RRSP account or from the USD component of a Cash account to the CAD component of a TFSA account etc.

B. Please note that if you are contributing a U.S. security to the CAD component of a registered account, once the transaction is completed, you may then use the Security Transfer tab to move the U.S. security into the USD component of the same registered account

3. From the CAD component of a registered account to the USD component of the same registered account or vice versa.

A. e.g. From the CAD component of a RRSP account to the USD component of the same RRSP account or from the CAD component of a TFSA account to the USD component of a TFSA account, etc

Exclusions:
  • You cannot use security transfers to contribute to a RDSP account
Notes:
  • Security transfers can only be made between TD Direct Investing accounts.
  • Only accounts where you are the primary owner will appear in the dropdown menu. Any WebBroker sub-accounts where you have Trading Authority or Power of Attorney will not appear. Also, security transfers between non-personal (business accounts) are not supported at this time.
  • De-registration security transfers (e.g. in-kind withdrawals from registered to non-registered accounts) are currently not supported on WebBroker. Please contact an Investment Representative at 1-800-465-5463 for information on how to perform this type of transfer.
